Galaxie 500 - Ceremony (Joy Division cover)
In March of 1981, the surviving members of Joy Division, now re-formed as New Order, re-recorded one of the final Joy Division songs ever composed. The song was titled, “Ceremony”. It was Ian’s emotionally torn song that conjures the events involving his relationship surrounding his wife and lover, Annik, as well as what his life would ultimately lead to. It’s been covered by Radiohead and Xiu Xiu, but it’s the one that appeared on Galaxie 500’s 1989 album, On Fire that billows out of the gate, carrying you as you close your eyes, “forever, watching love grow.”
